Teachers
Although I have always kept busy performing, I have been passionate about my teaching for the past 20 years. Early on, being classically trained gave me a strong musical foundation but later went on to learn jazz and playing by ear. I completed a Bachelor in Music at UNC-Wilmington, and a Masters in Music at Northern Illinois University where I received a full scholarship. I have also enjoyed playing many musical genres in commercial settings such as R&B, pop, and fusion. I believe it's important to teach strong fundamentals so whatever type of music the student wants to pursue, they'll have the tools at their disposal.
Since earning my Bachelor's Degree in Musicology in 2009, I have been teaching private piano lessons to ages young and old. I use various method books to develop strong fundamentals; which in-turn creates a strong musical foundation on which the student can build. I believe every student has a different learning style and as a teacher, I am constantly learning from my students to develop and expand my teaching methods. Each of my students are on their own individual musical journey and I'm happy to be a part of it.
